"So much more than expected. 5 Stars."
"Scheduled to be in Chicago for a week long training course, in the Rosemont area, I checked out citysearch to see where the good Italian places were. Basilico was rated highly, so I thought I would give it a shot. I will be deeply honest when I state that upon arrival at the restaurant location I was a bit hesitant. The restaurant is actually in a business building, and at first glance you might not consider it to be the highest class. I'm here to tell you DON'T think like that or you will miss out on one of the most incredible Italian meals you will ever have. Not only that, but the service was friendly, punctual, and helpful. I happened to get there for an early dinner and had the privilege of meeting the owner who greeted me at the door. The food was exceptional! A simple request to the waiter about changing one of the menu options was greeted with an "of course!" I had the stuffed gnocchi with their own famous Basilico sauce - a fresh tomato, garlic, olive oil and basil. If you are in the Chicago area do yourself a favor and find this gem, you won't regret it!!"
Pros: FOOD!!! Plenty of parking. Wonderful ambiance.

"Best Italian food I've ever had. I ate Basilico while visiting friends in Chicago, and I'll certainly go back. We had a rather large group and they accommodated us with no problems at all, even though the restaurant is not very large. However, the small size of the restaurant is masked by mirrors on all the walls. The ceiling has beautiful paintings with lights behind them, adding to the romantic atmosphere.
Our orders were taken very quickly, and the food got to us just as quickly. The pasta is homemade, and I had a hard time deciding which entrée to get. I had the Fettuccini Verdi al Forno, baked green fettuccini with a cream sauce and cheese on top. Fantastic. The prices are very reasonable, especially for the very large portions. It was a good time, with good food and good friends. I will definitely go back."

"I lived across the street from this place in a little apartment years before I got married. It's located in a strip mall, and you'd never guess it was there. It served some of the absolutely best Italian food, but that neighborhood is known for that cuisine. It's also the safest neighborhood in the city; it's home to a lot of cops and firemen because they have to live in Chicago.
As a throwback to the old days, I had my husband take me for dinner there before the David Gilmour show at the Rosemont Theatre. The food was just as fantastic as ever. We spoke to the waitress, and I told her how I hadn't been there since the earth cooled but the food was still phenomenal. She informed me that they've had the same chef for 25 years -- even before I started my sojourns -- and that's why the food quality was so consistent.
Seek this place out. Listen to Dino sing and smile at the signed pictures of Sinatra, Jay Leno, Tommy LaSorda and others who have eaten here. Loosen your belt, sit back and enjoy."
